Fundraising

Throughout the year we provide a few ways that the community is able to support the programs that we deliver. These initiatives often result in an item that is available for purchase.

Below you will find some of the items that we have worked on that you are available to you. Our main campaign goals with these items are to raise awareness of gender based violence against women and girls within our community. The funds raised will go to supporting the programs and services that we provide to the individuals and families that access our services.

The items below are available in limited quantities for purchase.  If you would like any of these items please email newstartsadmin@shaw.ca or call (807)727-2820 to arrangement payment and pickup.

We appreciate your support!

Patrick Hunter Prints

In 2021, local artist Patrick Hunter captured what we were feeling for November 25th campaign – International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children.

Three hands are connected by a braid of sweetgrass each wearing a bracelet:
– the orange bracelet holds an eagle feather that symbolizes honour and bravery;
– the red bracelet holds a drum to honour the murdered and missing indigenous women;
– the purple bracelet represents our work to end violence again women and girls.

Scarves

The Wrapped in Courage campaign engages local communities throughout November with the support of gender-based violence services to build awareness, connect survivors to services and to call on decision makers about the social change that is needed.

Every year throughout the month of November all Ontarians are called to take action to show their support for survivors of gender-based violence by wearing a purple scarf and attending a Wrapped in Courage flag raising and proclamation event in your community. Take action towards violence prevention today, because #purpleisforeveryone.

We have a variety of purple scarves for sale that range from $10.00 – $30.00.
